Connor's Story

Connor is a 22-year-old young man who instantly became a quadriplegic in July 2009 in a devastating diving accident and was told he would never walk again and probably wound not regain movement below his neck.  Connor’s progress this year has been nothing short of amazing.  He is back home in Booneville, NY following a lengthy rehabilitation at Magee’s inpatient and outpatient programs in Philly.  Connie, his Mom, transports him 3 times a week to outpatient therapy in Utica, using an old wheelchair van for the 45-minute drive.  Connor is able to move his arms, feed himself using an adapted fork, grasp a coffee mug, and self propel his manual wheelchair, among other achievements.  He recently was able to transfer himself into a car for the first time.  His proudest achievement took place in the therapy pool, where he rolled a kayak, exited it, got himself to the surface, and rolled onto his back in preparation for a future kayaking outing!  As you can imagine, there have been many expenses along the way and many more to come.  Connor hasn’t lost any momentum in his recovery; so let’s keep our momentum going too with the 3rd annual Connor’s Crusade.  A portion of the money raised this year will also be donated to Magee Rehabilitation, which has had such a profound impact on Connor’s recovery to date.  Thank you for your time and consideration.  Donations may be mailed to:
